Traffic ground to a halt in Highbridge on Friday evening (February 6th) after the failure of a set of four-way temporary traffic lights.

Long queues of vehicles built up along Church Street and the A38 for several hours after the lights became stuck on red.

The lights are in place while three months of major roadworks are carried out in the town. Burnham-On-Sea.com was first reported the work earlier this year, which will see gas mains along Church Street being replaced. The work is being conducted until the end of April. Work was temporarily halted on Friday by the wintry weather.
