night
A
new Burnham-On-Sea group set-up to help Coastguards, their widows
and families in times of severe hardship held its first fundraising
event on Tuesday evening (February 11th).
The
Burnham-On-Sea branch of the Coastguard Association held a quiz
night at the Somerset and Dorset pub on the town's High Street,
which was attended by over 100 people.
Branch Chairman Ian Jefferies told Burnham-On-Sea.com he was pleased
with the turn-out: "We're
delighted to have got such great support at our first event, which
raised the sum of £376.06."
The
Association aims to help serving and retired Coastguards, their
widows and dependents should they suffer hardship, distress or
illness or injury.
Full membership is for ex/serving Coastguards but anyone can join
as associate members. Membership costs £10 per year, for
which you will receive a diary and car sticker and a magazine.
Ian can be contacted on 07724995631.
