In photos: Burnham-On-Sea Mayor and Mayoress lead cubs investiture

Burnham-On-Sea's Mayor and Mayoress were the special guests at the investiture of eight young cubs on Monday evening (June 8th).

Derick Cooper and wife Christine handed out certificates to the youngsters during the ceremony for Burnham's Kingfisher Cub Pack at the Town Council Chambers in Jaycroft Road.

A sought-after Chief Scout's Silver Award was also presented to one young cub, Hamish, pictured on the right.

David Burland, Group Scout Leader, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "During the evening, the group learned about the role of the Mayor and Mayoress and also got to ask him lots of questions about his work!"

The eight being invested were Connor, Harvey, Thomas, Maisie, Luc, Thomas, Harvey and Imogen (pictured at the top of this page).

The Scouts also learned about the history of Burnham-On-Sea's town plaque and, shown below, are Scouts Emily and Abbigail with Mayoress Christine Cooper, David Burland and Mayor Derick Cooper.

Meanwhile, the group is keen to hear from volunteers interested in helping its work. They can contact Mr Burland on 01278 786960.
