New ‘dreamscheme’ project helps Highbridge youngsters improve town

-

Youngsters in Highbridge aged between eight and sixteen are being encouraged to take part in a new project to help improve the town.

The first session of The Dreamscheme will be held this Saturday (January 17th) at 1pm when community-based work will be rewarded with points that can be exchanged for free trips, sporting events and activities.

Organiser PCSO Claire Chambers, pictured below, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It is a fantastic scheme that enables young people to serve their community by keeping busy and having fun, developing their skills, hopes and achievements.”

“They can learn how to work in teams and improve the cosmetics of an estate, change attitudes and expectations of young people.”

“The scheme, which is being launched with several partner agencies, encourages youngsters to take responsibility for their community, reward positive behaviour and break down the barriers between youths and the older generation.”

The first session will be held at the Youth Club Building in Pearce Drive, just off Morland Rd, at 1pm on January 17th when there will also be free pizza and cola on offer to youngsters. For further information, contact PCSO Chambers on 01823 363450.
