A newly-formed marching group set-up in Burnham-On-Sea with the aim of possibly reaching ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent television series was visited by a BBC radio team on Thursday evening (August 20th).

BBC Somerset aired a special feature about the team on its breakfast programme on Friday.

Reporter Kate Mundy interviewed organiser Allan Roberts and sone of the youngsters about the formation of the new group.

Allan is a former army sergeant and retired police officer, who says he wants to help youngsters in Burnham and Highbridge beat boredom during the school holidays and improve team-working. The group first met earlier this month.

“The aim is to increase fitness, discipline, teamwork and have a lot of fun,” he told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “If it takes off, maybe we can look at uniforms, sponsorship, displays, competitions and possibly even a bid to get onto Britain’s Got Talent.”

The group, which meets at Highbridge Youth Centre each Wednesday at 6pm, is open to boys and girls aged between 8 and 14. For more details, contact Allan on 01278 789145.
