Burnham-On-Sea's
Mayor opens town church's flower festival

A
three-day flower festival has opened at a Burnham-On-Sea church
which is celebrating its 130th anniversary.
Burnham's
Mayor Derick Cooper and his wife Christine officially opened the
festival at Burnham Methodist Church in College Street on Friday
afternoon (June 5th), as pictured above.
A
wide range of colourful flower arrangements, put together by Burnham
reisdents, are on show at the festival.
"The
church will be open to the public from June 5-7th to see a wide
range of flowers and find out about the history of the building,"
Reverend Ward Jones told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
The
festival is open from 10am-6pm on Saturday, and noon-6pm on Sunday
June 7th.
The
church was opened on June 25th, 1879 by the Rev. M.C. Osborn.
The land cost just £200 and the building £1,041. 10s.
0d, the money being raised from bazaars, subscriptions, tea meetings
and lectures.
