Movie fans can grab their 1970s glam gear and sing along at a special screening of smash hit movie musical Mamma Mia! in aid of FolkFest 2010 next month.

Burnham-On-Sea’s Ritz Cinema in Victoria Street is screening the popular movie on Monday, October 5th and will donate money from ticket sales to the town’s folk festival.

Mamma Mia! is inspired by Abba’s hits and revolves around a bride-to-be who invites her prospective real fathers to her wedding on a Greek island without her mother, played by Meryl Streep, knowing.

FolkFest vice chairman Dominic Wills said: “This is a great fundraising opportunity for us. The cinema is generously providing the film at no expense, so grab your glam clothes and sing to the tunes and raise some cash for the festival.”

The curtain will rise for the showing at 8pm. Tickets cost £5.90 from the Ritz. This year’s FolkFest festival cost more than £11,500 to put on, with the funding having to be found from sponsorship, fundraising, council funds and merchandise sales.
