Rotary Club presents free dictionaries to Burnham-On-Sea schools

Roy Twining of Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club has presented free dictionaries to ten local schools as part of an international project to boost literacy.

Rotary International's 'Dictionary 4 Life' Project aims to promote improved literacy standards across the world.

Mrs Sue Walton, Deputy Head and children of St Joseph's Primary School, is pictured with Roy Twining, outgoing President of Burnham Rotary Club, and several children from the school with their new dictionaries.

"We have been able to give eight of these illustrated young persons' dictionaries to each of the ten local junior schools. Rotarian Jane Gibbs said they have been received very well and it seems that some of the schools will place further orders."
