Burnham-On-Sea’s Youth Centre in Cassis Close will be giving people who have never used the Internet before a chance to take their first steps in computing during a special ‘Get Online Day’ being held on Friday 23rd October.

The BAY Centre’s friendly volunteer staff will be on hand to help newcomers get started with an easy-to-understand course to help them discover how the Internet can help save time, money and hassle.

Mike Lang, UK Online centre co-ordinator at the BAY Centre, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Everyone at the centre is really excited about the day, which will take place between 11am and 4pm.”

“It will help us show the local community that using the Internet is really easy and not something to be worried about. Get Online Day is for everyone, whether you’re 18 or 80, so why not come along and be a part if it?”

Research shows that 29 per cent of the adult population in England still don’t use computers or the Internet. Get Online Day aims to encourage more than 17,000 people across England to join their friends and family online.

This year, the event at The BAY Centre is one of 700 Get Online Day events taking place at participating UK online centres.
