Three
pubs in Burnham-On-Sea area appear in 2010 Good Beer Guide

Three
pubs and a brewery in the Burnham-On-Sea area have made it into
the new Good Beer Guide 2010, published this week by the Campaign
For Real Ale.
The
37th annual edition of the best-selling pub guide shines the spotlight
on 4,500 of the country's top real ale pubs.
The
authors take into consideration each pub's real ale selection,
food, opening hours, beer gardens, accommodation, transport links,
history, disabled access and facilities.
The
Royal Artillery Arms in West Huntspill reappears after getting
a mention in the 2008 edition - the first time it had appeared
in more than 20 years.
The
Crossways Inn, also at West Huntspill, features and is described
as a just- refurbished 17th century inn that offers a cosy atmosphere.
The
New Inn in Wedmore is described as a pre-1800s village inn and
the venue for the Turnip Prize alternative art competition and
other traditional contests such as conkers and apple bobbing.
Berrow
Brewery, founded in 1892, also gets a mention in the book since
it supplies many local pubs and those further afield with real
ales. It is run by councillor Andrea Johnstone and her husband
James (pictured above).
The
2010 guide features 1,297 new pub entries and 71 new real ale-making
breweries. Priced at £7.99, it is available here
from Amazon.
