Google's controversial
camera car
spotted in Burnham-On-Sea

Google's
camera car was spotted in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge for the
first time on Thursday afternoon (June 18th), gathering thousands
of images of the town's streets for its controversial mapping
service.
Burnham-On-Sea.com
captured this image of the vehicle as it travelled along Burnham
Road, near the entrance to King Alfred School.
Members
of Burnham's discussion forums also reported here
seeing the car next to The Lighthouse Pub and also coming into
Highbridge over the River Brue bridge.
Google's
use of the cars has sparked privacy concerns in some parts of
the country due to 'street view' images of people and their homes
being published without prior permission on the search engine's
mapping website.
No
'street view' images of Burnham-On-Sea have yet appeared on the
search engine, although Thursday's visit makes it highly likely
that this will now change in the near future.
Burnham-On-Sea.com's
photographer may even be featured on the service taking our photo
