An official flag-raising ceremony was held at Highbridge’s Apex Wildlife Park on Thursday (August 6th) to celebrate it receiving a Green Flag Award for 2009-2010.

Cllr Jane Moreton, Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council, and Marina Turner, Sedgemoor’s Parks and Open Spaces Project Officer led the ceremony alongside members of the Friends of Apex Park, as pictured here.

Burnham-On-Sea.com reported last month how the park’s bosses had received the award from TV star Michaela Strachan at a ceremony in Bournemouth.

The Green Flag is the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales. The scheme recognises parks that achieve excellent standards, in the same way that the Blue Flag scheme recognises clean beaches.

Council spokeswoman Lorraine Folan told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re all thrilled that the park has been recognised in this way again.”
