Hundreds
of runners compete in Burnham-On-Sea Half Marathon
Hundreds
of runners sprinted off at the start of Burnham-On-Sea's annual
Half Marathon this morning (Sunday, October 4th).
A total of 283 runners from across the region took part in the
13-mile event, which was organised by the Burnham Harriers running
club.
Adrian Marriott from Wells City Harriers set a new course record
by winning in an impressive time of of 1:08:57. He was five and
a half minutes ahead of second-placed Jon James, also from Wells
City Harriers.
The
starting gun was fired at 11am at Burnham's BASC Ground and the
runners then wended their way along Love Lane and Queens Drive,
before turning left along the A38 towards Brent Knoll. They went
on to East Brent, Lympsham, Wick Road and Red Road, before returning
to Burnham via Berrow Road.
Burnham
Harriers Club Secretary Brian Beale, who oversaw Sunday's event,
told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It's been another successful event
- we're pleased with the number of runners we've had."
