Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Carnival Club was celebrating again on Saturday night (November 7th), after winning first place in their class.

The float, called Gee Wiz, was awarded the top place in the juvenile class on the second night of the carnival season – having already won at Bridgwater Carnival the night before.

The club’s electrician, John Carpenter, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was an awesome night for Hillview, with us winning first place in our class plus three other awards for ‘crowd’s choice’ and ‘third best tractor driver’.”

“It was a great night for the club’s children on the float – well done to all of them. We’re now looking forward to bringing the cart home to Burnham on Monday to show the local people who have supported us throughout the year. Please give your local club a big cheer as we pass on Monday night.”

The club enjoyed its first win at Bridgwater since 2005. The impressive 100ft-long float, which this year has a wizards theme, features 12,500 light bulbs.

The float will then perform at the Burnham-On-Sea Carnival on Monday November 9th.
