Burnham-On-Sea’s £14,000 carnival float made it six out of six by winning first place in its class at Glastonbury Carnival on Saturday night (November 14th).

Members of Hillview Juvenile Carnival Club were celebrating after their float, called Gee Wiz, was awarded the top place in the juvenile class on the penultimate night of the carnival season.

The impressive 100ft-long float, which has a wizards theme, features 12,500 light bulbs and has won at Bridgwater, North Petherton, Burnham-On-Sea, Shepton Mallet and Wells.

“Friday night at Wells Carnival was a tough night given the gales and torrential rain,” club chairman Mark Bishop told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “Our sixteen brave and brilliant children got a well-deserved first place.”

“We’ve had a brilliant season so far and Weston on Monday night will be the final carnival of the season.”
