Residents welcome opening of new footpath bridge in Highbridge

-

A new bridge has been opened in Highbridge, giving walkers easier access between Isleport and the centre of the town.

A wooden bridge has been constructed on the pathway between Isleport Road and Springfield Road.

“The old bridge over the ditch was a rail sleeper and it had collapsed, making the footpath unusable,” Ian Jenkins, the neighbourood watch co-ordinator for Isleport Lane, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We’re delighted with the job the County Council has done in creating a proper bridge here and thank County Councillor John Woodman for all his help in getting this completed.”

Cllr Woodman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The people living around here have been waiting a long time for this bridge to be built.”

“One of the first things I did when I was elected was to push for it and fortunately I managed to get it done within a few weeks.”
