A long-serving staff member at Burnham-On-Sea’s War Memorial Hospital has this week been praised for her “simply wonderful” service and dedication to patient care over the past 25 years.

Kathy Mould, a Healthcare Assistant at the hospital in Love Lane, was presented with a special 25-year long service award by the Chairman of NHS Somerset, Mrs Jane Barrie OBE.

Kathy first started working within the NHS as a nursing auxiliary in Birmingham and since 1993 has worked at Burnham’s War Memorial Hospital, initially in the outpatients department and more recently on the wards.

Hospital Matron Chere Turberville praised Kathy for her years of selfless dedication and hard work.

She told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Kathy enjoys everything about her work. She loves working with patients and has a special interest in palliative care.”

“She is very active in the community and also works extremely hard for the local church and numerous charities.”

“Kathy is a role model to any aspiring healthcare assistant. She has been described by her colleagues as simply wonderful, calm, caring, and with a heart of gold.”

“Nothing is too much trouble for Kathy and her smile lights up the whole hospital. She is a pleasure to know.”
