Kimberly wins 'Somerset Young Artist 2009' crown
A
talented youngster from East Huntspill, who is just five years
old, has won the title of 'Somerset Young Artist 2009' for under
ten year-olds.
Kimberly
Shepherd, pictured, attends Mark First School, who entered her
self portrait into an exhibition in Taunton, where judges chose
her work for the sought-after award.
The
judges assessed the art without knowing the ages of the youngsters
and they were astounded to find out that the winner is merely
five years old!
Mum
Sharon told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We are extremely proud of
Kimberly."
"She's always creating something, and it was wonderful to
see that her love of art was recognised by others!"
The
age categories in the competition were age 10 and under, 11-15
years and 16-18 years. Kimberly won a £30 WH Smiths voucher
for her work.
The
exhibition runs until April 17th at The Brewhouse Theatre in Taunton
and is open to the general public.
