Coastguards in five hour search for missing man
Burnham-On-Sea
Coastguards joined a huge five-hour search for a missing person
near Weston on Wednesday night (Septeber 30th).
Coastguards
from the town scoured a large area between Birnbeck Pier and Sand
Bay to find the missing man, who was described as being in a "distressed
"state.
Burnham
Coastguard Officer Steve Bird told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We
searched a large area on foot between Birnbeck Pier and Sand Bay
- including the wooded area - after concern was raised for the
man's safety."
"We
searched for more than five hours until around 2am when the operation
was called off."
Police
spokesman Wayne Baker told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the man, who
was understood to be aged in his 30s, had later returned home
to his relieved family. Police and a helicopter were also involved
in the search.
