Two teenagers were arrested by Burnham-On-Sea police on Sunday afternoon (November 22nd) as officers investigated the theft of EIGHT motorbikes from across our area during recent weeks.

Officers were called to Talbot Close in Highbridge at 2.45pm, as pictured here, after the latest stolen bike was spotted by police.

The bike was taken away by police and two men were arrested minutes later and are now helping police with their enquiries.

It comes after a spate of eight motorbike and moped thefts across the Burnham-On-Sea area during the last few weeks. Four of these have occurred in the last six days alone

Burnham-On-Sea.com was first to report last week that a stolen bike had been dumped in a pond besides the River Brue in Burnham.

One bike was stolen from the Maple Drive area of Burnham last week and recovered with steering lock damage in nearby Steart Avenue.

A moped was also set on fire by thieves before being dumped in St Mark’s Road in Burnham in a separate incident last week.

Burnham Police’s Inspector Roger Tolley told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There has been a spate of bike thefts in recent days and we would advise bike owners to take extra care with security.”

“Several of the stolen motorbikes had been locked, but the but we would advise owners to lock them away in a garage if possible.”
