Burnham-On-Sea
MP congratulates winning Tory election candidates

MP
David Heathcoat-Amory congratulated
Burnham and Highbridge's victorious Conservative county council
election candidates during a visit to the town on Saturday morning
(June 6th).
The
Burnham MP said
Friday's
election results, where the Conservatives won every seat in
the Burnham area, had "exceeded expectations".
He
is pictured congratulating Peter Burridge-Clayton, who won the
Burnham North seat, John Woodman who clinched Highbridge and Burnham
South, and Mark Healey, who won the Huntspill ward.
Talking to Burnham-On-Sea.com at The Princess Hall before his
regularly surgery, Mr Heathcoat-Amory added: "It was a marvellous
result yesterday that was quite unprecedented."
"The
results exceeded expectations - the Conservatives have never controlled
so many county council seats across Somerset."
"Full
credit goes to the candidates. I am confident that with the council
now under Conservative control, we will see a much better-run
operation."
The
Conservatives took overall control of Somerset after 16 years
under the Liberal Democrats. The Conservatives now have 35 seats,
an increase of 11, the Lib Dems have 21, having lost nine, and
Labour have two, following the loss of two.
The
MP added: "I pay respect to those unsuccessful outgoing election
candidates for all the work they have done over the last few years."
