Thieves cracked open this car parking cash machine on Burnham seafront early on Saturday (August 22nd) and attempted to steal cash from inside.

It’s not known whether any of the coins inside the machine, which is located on the South Esplanade, were taken.

Sedgemoor District Council officials made several visits to the machine on Saturday morning to try and repair it.

“Screws or nails had been jammed into the gap between the cash box door and side, but it looked like the actual cash box inside was still intact,” seafront fisherman Andrew Davey told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The incident comes just a few weeks after Burnham-On-Sea.com reported in July how several other payment machines further along The Esplanade, near the Sailing Club, had been forced open.

Large amounts of coins were believed to have been taken on that occasion.

Burnham-On-Sea police are appealing for anyone with information about the incidents to get in contact via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
