450 new jobs to be created at Brean with expansion of Pontins

-

Over 450 new jobs are to be created when Brean’s Pontin’s holiday park gets a multi-million pound expansion next year.

The company announced on Thursday (September 10th) that the facilities at its park will be “extensively developed” during 2010.

Its capacity will also be greatly increased during the next three years. Subject to planning permission, new guest accommodation will be developed over the next three years and the park will also grow to a capacity of 4,000 and eventually 6,000.

For the first time there will also be “ownership opportunities” for holidaymakers when Pontin’s will sell accomodation at the park.

Ian Smith, Chief Executive of Ocean Parcs and Pontin’s, announced that an additional 250 park jobs and 200 construction jobs will be generated by the expansion project.

The expansion will include a new Ocean Spa leisure complex, an extended and enhanced leisure pool facility, an extended themed restaurant and cafe facilities, plus a new themed amusement arcade with bingo, betting and gaming facilities.

There will also be a refurbished and re-themed night club, bars and theatre and ballroom.

Mr Smith said in a statement: “Our outstanding value for money proposition has proved very successful and we will actively continue to improve and modernise what is an iconic holiday brand whilst we roll out our development plans. In parallel we are actively looking to further expand and enhance the brand across the UK.”

Pontin’s announced earlier this year its plans for a £50m redevelopment programme of its six chalet parks across the UK.
