Exclusive first look at proposed £330,000 extension to Burnham pool

-

The proposed £330,000 expansion of Burnham-On-Sea’s Swim and Sports Academy took a step forward this week with the formal submission of the plans, which are pictured here for the first time.

Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported earlier this year how Mark and Sara Cox-Conklin wanted to build a modern, two-storey extension in place of the current paved area at the front of the Berrow Road property.

The plans, which will be considered by Sedgemoor District Council and the Town Council over the coming weeks, show a modern and sleek building replacing the courtyard area.

The building would include a a high-tech cardio studio, a therapy spa, two physio rooms and new changing rooms. The centrepiece of the extension would be a 15 x 30ft therapy pool which would have water heated to 90 degrees.

The first floor would also feature a high-end spa with hot rock therapy treatments and there would also be new relaxation and meditation facilities. The total cost of the proposed extension is estimated at around £250,000, with a further £80,000 being spent on re-tiling the main swimming pool and modernising the changing rooms.
