Residents call for urgent road repairs in Burnham-On-Sea town centre

-

Concerned residents living along a busy town centre street in Burnham-On-Sea have this week called on Somerset County Council to make ‘urgently needed’ repairs to the crumbling tarmac surface.

Several Adam Street residents have contacted Burnham-On-Sea.com regarding the poor condition of the road, which has several deep pot holes, as pictured here.

“A number of deep pot holes have appeared in the tarmac near the car park and at the junction with Oxford Street, making it potentially very dangerous for cyclists. Something needs to be done here urgently, ” said one of the residents, who asked not to be named.

Responding to the concerns, Somerset County Council spokeswoman Jan Hookings told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Tuesday (September 1st): “No formal complaints have been received about the state of Adam Street, but we will carry out an inspection.”

“This road is examined by our highways team every month as part of this council’s normal monitoring of town centre roads, but no pot holes were noticed during our last visit on August 10th.”

Burnham County Councillor Peter Burridge-Clayton said this week he is willing to take up the matter for residents and press the County Council for action.
