Burnham-On-Sea's
Princess Hall group receives £1,000 funding boost
The
group running Burnham-On-Sea's Princess Hall has this week been
handed a £1,000 cash boost from town councillors.
The
'Friends Of The Princess' had requested financial help from the
Town Council to promote the hall's events over the coming months
- and on Monday night (June 1st), councillors gave a green light
to the application.
Cllr
Neville Jones backed a proposal by Cllr Chris Williams to award
the funding to the group, and said: "The 'Friends' group
is trying hard to make a go of the Princess and deserves help
and support."
Internationally-acclaimed
musician and song writer Chris Jagger will be performing at the
Princess this coming Saturday, June 6th, for the first of a series
of concerts over the summer.
It
comes after the completion of work to upgrade the theatre's stage
electronic system, which caused the cancellation of a scheduled
concert at the venue earlier last month.
Tickets
for this Saturday's concert are priced £5 in advance or
£8 on the door and will be available from this Thursday
(May 28th) at GC Music and The Old Pier Tavern or by calling 01278
783161.
Doors
will open at 7pm and the show is scheduled to start at 8.15pm.
It will feature the multi-talented Chris Jagger and his band (pictured),
supported by Dorset comedy band 'Whos Afeard', who are also
due to perform at this year's Glastonbury Festival, and 'Steve,
One Bloke, One Mandolin'.
