Burnham-On-Sea man sentenced over indecent pictures

-

A 25-year-old Burnham-On-Sea man has this week been sentenced to a three-year community order after pleading guilty to possessing child porn images.

John Riches, of Aldwych Close, blamed a ‘troubled childhood’ and his inability to express his feelings for his actions.

He was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on Monday (July 20th) to a three-year community order with a supervision requirement after admitting 11 counts of making indecent photographs of a child.

Judge Longman also ordered Riches to participate in a treatment programme for sexual offenders. Also, his details will stay on the sex offenders’ register for five years.

Nicholas Fridd, prosecuting, told the court six of the 11 images that Riches downloaded were ‘category four’, on a scale where five indicates the most severe.

Riches appeared at North Somerset Courthouse on June 29th where he pleaded guilty to 11 charges of possessing indecent images. Riches said he had the material stored on his computer and on discs because he wanted to see why some celebrities had run into trouble for downloading such material.
