Burnham-On-Sea
resident seeks owner of rare bird spotted in town
A
Burnham-On-Sea resident is seeking help in tracing the owner of
a rare bird that has been visiting his garden in the town.
The
thrush-sized bird has appeared several times in the garden of
David Neville, near Marine Drive.
"It
is a very beautiful bird that's about the size of a thrush. It
is black, but has a gorgeous iridescent green and blue plumage,"
David told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"After
enquiries with the Protection of Birds, I have discovered that
it is a Glossy Starling and definitely not a native to our country.
It is usually resident in South Africa, but will happily live
in this country."
"It
is obviously an escapee and is quite happy and healthy. If
anyone knows someone who has cage birds and has lost one, please
get in contact via Burnham-On-Sea.com."
