Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s Regeneration Partnership is being ‘mothballed’ due to a lack of funding, we can reveal.

The group is being disbanded and its Chairperson, former County Councillor Rosemarie Parsons, has confirmed she will step down in September without a replacement being appointed.

“We are putting the organisation on the ‘backburner’ for a while and mothballing it,” Mrs Parsons told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We have come to the end of our lottery funding and now is not a good time to be looking for new grants to keep an organisation like this running.”

She added that the group’s office in Highbridge’s Alpha House will soon be closed.

But she added that the group may not be permanently folded. “This isn’t necessarily the end of the partnership as an organisation,” she explained.

“We may find that funding becomes available again in a few months or years’ time and the group could then be revived.”
