Coastguards, police and ambulance crews from Burnham-On-Sea rushed to the banks of the River Parrett on Monday afternoon (September 28th) after a walker suffering suspected heart problems dialled 999 for help.

The emergency services were called to an area of the river at West Huntspill at around 3.40pm, as pictured here.

Burnham Coastguard Officer Dave Welland told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The man had reported experiencing chest pains while walking alone along the river bank.”

“As his exact location was unclear, two Coastguard officers walked along the route of the river from the Clyce at Highbridge while the rest of the team went to the sea wall from the West Huntspill end.”

“The man was quickly located here and left in the care of the ambulance crews. He was taken to hospital for treatment.”
