Burnham-On-Sea police probe
attempted robbery at town centre shop

This was the scene in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea on Friday afternoon
(January 30th) after an attempted robbery at a shop.
Police
rushed to Victoria Street at 4.23pm after two men in their 30s
burst into the shop and demanded goods, but fled empty handed
after being challenged by the store's owner.
One
nearby resident told Burnham-On-Sea.com that a silver car had
been seen leaving the scene a few moments later - and this is
believed to have been the get-away vehicle.
An ambulance was called to the scene, but the shop's owner suffered
only a minor leg injury and did not require further treatment.
Police
spokesman Martin Dunscombe told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It is
very early days in the investigation, but we would urge anyone
who saw anything suspicious in the Victoria Street area this afternoon
to contact us on 0845 456 7000."
Several
police cars were at the scene of the attempted robbery on Friday
evening, as pictured above, as the probe into what happened got
underway.
