Burnham-On-Sea
shoe shop "is doing fine" shoppers are assured

'Closing
down' posters plastered across the front of a Burnham-On-Sea shoe
store have been misleading some shoppers this week.
Concerned
customers thought High Street shop Shoe Zone, pictured, was set
to follow the credit crunch-hit Woolworths and shut down.
However,
shop supervisor Gemma Lovedale is reassuring shoppers that they
are not in trouble.
"We're
not going to close. We're doing fine!" she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"Several people have asked whether we're shutting down, but
we're definitely not."
The
words 'Central Warehouse' appear in much smaller print above the
words 'Closing Down' on the posters.
Gemma
explained that shoe firm Stead and Simpson had been taken over
by Shoe Zone last year. Each firm has kept stock in its own central
warehouse, but Stead and Simpson's is now being closed and the
firm will share Shoe Zone's facility. Stock from the closing warehouse
is therefore on sale in the Burnham shop.
