Attempted ram raid at Highbridge Somerfield store
Police
are investigating an attempted ram raid on a supermarket in Highbridge
earlier this week.
Officers
rushed to Somerfield, near Bank Street, in the early hours of
Wednesday morning (April 29th) after a vehicle was driven at speed
into the building.
Police
spokesman Steve Game confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Police
were called to an incident at the store at 3.05am when an alarm
was activated."
"Officers
found a Range Rover had rammed a fence and also damaged the doors
of the premises."
He
added that nothing was understood to have been stolen from the
store and the damaged vehicle was taken away later in the day
for further investigation.
It
is not the first time that there has been a ram raid at the store.
Burnham-On-Sea.com was also first to report in December 2007 how
thieves had struck at the supermarket.
