Voting underway in county council election across Burnham-On-Sea

Polling stations across Burnham-On-Sea opened at 7am this morning (Thursday, June 4th) as voting got underway in the County Council elections.

Eleven candidates are contesting four County Council seats in the Burnham area.

Both Burnham North and Huntspill have two candidates vying for your votes, while Brent has three candidates and Highbridge four.

Polling takes place from 7am until 10pm. The results will not be announced until Friday (June 5th) and will be available on's election results page.

The candidates in the Burnham North seat are Peter Burridge-Clayton (Conservatives) and Mike Mansfield (Liberal Democrats).

In Highbridge and Burnham South, the seat will be contested by Jo Burridge-Clayton (Labour), Mick Lucas (UKIP), Rosemarie Parsons (Liberal Democrats) and John Woodman (Conservatives).

In Huntspill, the contest is between Mark Healey (Conservatives) and Joe Leach (Liberal Democrats).

In Brent, it's a three-way battle between Shella Rachel Forrester (Labour), Tony Gore (Liberal Democrats) and Alan Ham (Conservatives).

European Parliament elections are also taking place today.
