Fresh
drive launched to reduce speeding traffic through Berrow

A
fresh drive to slow down speeding motorists travelling through
Berrow, near Burnham-On-Sea, is underway with the installation
of this flashing speed sign.
Funded
by Somerset County Council, the warning sign in Berrow Road flashes
up the speed of traffic if a passing vehicle exceeds the limit
of 30mph.
County
Councillor Alan Ham, who has recently given £7,000 of community
funding towards the purchase of ten of the cameras across the
area, says they are already proving effective.
He
told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Each of the sign is being placed
in various locations across our area on a revolving basis to gather
information about speeding."
"The
parish councils and local police in each area are being given
statistics on the number of sign flashes and the average speed
of passing traffic so they can accurately assess the scale of
the problems."
"The
signs do not record details of passing vehicles, but they do alert
motorists when they are exceeding the speed limit."
