Town centre litter problems
could be swept away in Burnham-On-Sea
Litter
problems in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea could soon be swept away
following a decision by the town council to invest in a dedicated
street cleaner.
Councillors
this week voted in favour of spending £12,500 on employing
a person to keep the streets of Burnham clean, on the understanding
that the funding will be matched by Sedgemoor District Council.
Town
clerk Eileen Shaw told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Councillors are
very keen to see the state of cleaning improved in the town centre
and want a dedicated street cleaner."
"This
is only a recommendation at this stage and will require agreement
from the town council and Sedgemoor District Council."
The
topic was debated at the town council's Policy and Finance Committee
on Monday and will be reviewed at next week's meeting of the full
council.
