Burnham
tourist centre named in UK's top 10 for customer service
Staff
at Burnham-On-Sea Tourist Information Centre were celebrating
today (Thursday) after being praised in a nationwide customer
service awards scheme.
Over
290 tourist centres across the UK took part in this year's Visit
England Mystery Shopper Programme in which the centres' customer
service is assessed.
Burnham
Tourist Information Centre has come second in the South West region
and seventh in the whole country.
Manager Annette Haggett, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "All
the staff are delighted and are committed to raising standards
and offering excellent customer service."
The
news comes just a few weeks after Burnham-On-Sea.com reported
that the centre's future could be in doubt due to district council
funding cuts.
David
McCubbin, Somerset Tourist Partnership Coordinator, praised the
staff, saying: "The Somerset Tourism Partnership are very
pleased to congratulate Burnham-On-Sea TIC for its well deserved
award in the mystery shopper campaign."
"TICs are the main point of contact for visitors when they
reach Somerset so this is fantastic recognition of the dedication
and high quality service provided by the centre's staff."
Julia
Stuckey, Cultural Manager of the South West Regional Development
Agency, Councillor Mrs Anne Fraser MBE, Portfolio Holder for Strategy
and Business Services and David McCubbin, Somerset Tourism Partnership
Coordinator will be at the Tourist Information Centre on Tuesday
morning (December 8th) to congratulate the team.
