Burnham-On-Sea's
annual town council meeting set to be held
Policing
in Burnham and Highbridge is among the topics set to be discussed
at the 36th annual town meeting, due to be held tonight (Monday
20th April).
The
public meeting will be held at 7pm in the Old Courthouse in Jaycroft
Road under the chairmanship of the town's Mayor, Cllr Peter Burridge-Clayton.
"This
is an open meeting for members of the electorate of Burnham-On-Sea
and Highbridge to hear reports on the activities of the Town Council
over the past year, and its aspirations for the coming year,"
explained town clerk Eileen Shaw.
A
representative from Burnham police will give a report on policing
issues in Burnham and Highbridge, and there will also be a short
report from Burnham and Highbridge Youth Town Council.
There
will also be a brief presentation on the issues of Severn Tidal
Power and the future development of nuclear facilities at Hinkley
Point. Of particular interest to Highbridge residents will be
an outline of plans for the future redevelopment of the town.
Most
importantly this is an opportunity for electors to raise any matters
of concern within the parish, and to ask questions about the work
of their local council. Copies of the town council's annual report
and accounts will also be available to anyone attending the meeting.
For
further information please contact the Town Clerk, Mrs Eileen
Shaw by telephone on 01278 788088 or by via e-mail.
