Burnham-On-Sea
couple celebrate 80 years of marriage!

A
Burnham-On-Sea couple who are both aged 100 celebrated another
major milestone on Friday (March 27th) when they reached their
80th wedding anniversary.
Great-great-grandfather
Walter Postings, known as Wally, and wife Beatrice, known as Pete,
are understood to have Britain's second-longest marriage.
Burnham-On-Sea.com
reported last October how Wally had celebrated his 100th birthday,
two months after his wife reached the same milestone.
The
devoted pair, who are often seen holding hands at Tudor Lodge
residential home in the town, were joined by family members for
a special celebration on Friday (as pictured above).
When
asked the secret of such a long and happy marriage, Wally told
Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It's all about give and take" and
Pete added: "I just love him and that's it."
Tudor
Lodge manager Chris Arnold said: "Wally and Pete are a pleasure
to have at Tudor Lodge. Wally enjoys regular walks around the
garden to keep active and the pair have very sharp minds. They
can often be found holding hands in the lounge, which is lovely
to see and testament to how close they are after 80 years of marriage."
Mr
and Mrs Postings have lived through two world wars, five monarchs
and 19 prime ministers.
They
met at a party in Williton, Somerset when they were about 18.
They married within a couple of years in a registry office in
Gloucester on March 27th 1929.
They
later moved to Cheltenham where Wally worked for Rotol Air Screws
at the start of the war before being relocated to Worcester in
1941. In 1951 they took over Culverwells Antiques in Victoria
Street in Burnham from Pete's father, who had established the
business 1921.
Wally
and Pete retired in 1975 and enjoyed many happy years together
in their bungalow in Burnham.
Wally
and Pete had 3 children and also have four grandchildren, eight
Great Grandchildren and two Great-Great Grandchildren!
