Lions
Club gives Burnham-On-Sea Youth Centre a fresh lick of paint
Burnham-On-Sea's
youth centre has been given a fresh splash of colour thanks to
the efforts of a group of volunteers from the town's Lions Club.
Five
members donned overalls on Saturday (January 24th) to give the
BAY Centre in Cassis Close a new lick of paint in readiness for
the upcoming opening of its new youth cafe.
"When
we heard about the plans for a youth cafe, we offered our help
because it's in line with our policy of helping young people,"
Lions Chairman Andrew Bryant explained to Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"We
offered a financial contribution but it was agreed that some volunteer
time in painting the new cafe and kitchen area would more useful."
"The
children chose the paint - a very colourful lime green and purple
- and we did the rest. It was a fun atmosphere and work like this
makes the Lions Club enjoyable."
PC
Tracey Stiles added: "The whole community have been pulling
together to get the Youth Cafe up and running for young people
in the area to enjoy."
""We
are currently using funds to buy furniture and games and hope
to open the cafe with a launch event late February."
"The
cafe will be an invaluable facility for young people in Burnham,
giving them somewhere to spend time with their friends and have
some fun in a supervised environment."
