Stranded 4×4 towed to safety on Burnham-On-Sea beach

-

The owner of this 4×4 got a sinking feeling when it became stuck on Burnham-On-Sea beach on Tuesday (September 14th).

The vehicle sank into soft sand next to the town’s jetty when its owner, from Gloucestershire, tried to retrieve a jet ski.

Burnham rescue charity BARB was called to the scene and its crewmembers used a tractor to tow the stranded vehicle up the beach to safety before the tide could reach it.

“Fortunately for the owner, the vehicle was quickly pulled to safety,” said BARB Operations Manager Steve Perks. “He was very grateful for our assistance and gave a donation to BARB to cover its costs.”

Several motorists have got into difficulty along Burnham’s coastline during the past year.
