Highbridge school students celebrate ‘best-ever’ A-level results

-

Pupils at Highbridge’s King Alfred School are today (Thursday) celebrating the best A-level results in the school’s history.

Over 40 students opened their envelopes this morning – and the vast majority were delighted at how they’d done.

Head teacher Andy Owen told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are delighted that the hard work of the students, staff and parents has been reflected in our results, which are up on average by one grade per student.”

Among those doing especially well was Year 13 student Nathan Bird, who achieved A*s in Georgraphy and Sociology and an A grade in Music.

“Nathan will be having a gap year during which he’ll be working with the school’s music department before going to university to study a degree in music,” added Andy.

Despite concerns in the national press over shortages in university places, the Head of Sixth Form Jonathan Gaskell said: “We are very pleased that the over-whelming majority of our students have secured places at their chosen universities.”
