Cadets from Burnham-On-Sea’s Air Training Corps were rewarded for a busy year of activities when they held their annual presentation evening in Weston at the weekend.

The cadets celebrated a busy year which included numerous flying, shooting, adventure training, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and other award events.

The awards were presented to the cadets by former station Warrant Officer of RAF Locking, Mr Iain Norris MBE, and 290 Squadron’s Commanding Officer, Flt Lt Steven Manville.

The award for Best NCO went to Cadet Sgt Josh Morgan, Best Cadet was Cadet Rees Kendall, Best Commitment to the Squadron went to Cadet Chris Chatterton, Best Endeavour was won by Cadet Daniel Hopkins and the Commanding Officer’s Award went to Cadet Sgt Matt Butcher. The Extra Curricular award for out-of-squadron activities went to Cadet Cpl Ryan Ludlow.

Squadron Officer Fg Off Chris Garrett told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The squadron has had a fantastic year in which many cadets have had the opportunity to take part in some new and exciting activities. We have seen a large intake of new cadets recently, which is excellent, as it offers the teenagers of Weston and Burnham a chance to take advantage of learning new skills and new experiences.”

290 Squadron Air Training Corps is based in Burnham at the Cadet Centre on Highbridge Road (TA8 1LN) and meets every Tuesday and Thursday between 7.30pm and 9.45pm. For more information contact 290 Squadron on 01934 647805 between these times or visit www.290sqn.org.uk.
