Burnham air training corps members rewarded for commitment

Two members of the Air Training Corps based in Burnham-On-Sea have this week been rewarded for their dedication and commitment to the group.

Adult Warrant Officer Steve Warr, who joined as a cadet in 1990, was presented with his long service medal for 12 years of adult service.

His medal was given to him by the Commanding Officer of the Devon and Somerset wing, Wing Commander Brian Wills-Pope RAF VR(T).

On the same evening Cadet Flight Sergeant Tom Barker became the first cadet to reach the top of the cadet rank structure in the history of the Burnham-based detached flight by being promoted to the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer.

Commanding officer of 290 Squadron Air Training Corps, Flight Lieutenant Steve Manville, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “What a fantastic achievement this is for the both of them. They add great experience and depth to the squadron and I am extremely pleased for them.”

290 Squadron Air Training Corps is based in Burnham at the Cadet Centre on Highbridge Road and meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 7.30pm and 9.45pm. For more information, call 01934 647805 between these times.
