Mum gets surprise early Christmas gift – a baby boy!

Delighted Amy Furber has already had the ultimate surprise Christmas gift – a new baby boy!

The 19-year-old from East Huntspill has given birth to tiny David just a fortnight after discovering she was pregnant.

Amy’s father, Dave, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “She didn’t put on any weight during the pregnancy so no-one had a clue. She went into hospital thinking she was going to be treated for what the doctors thought was a cist on her ovaries and came out with the news that she was about to have a baby!”

“The doctors told us that this does happen sometimes, but it was a huge shock all the same – albeit a wonderful surprise!”

Young David was born on Monday at 7.45am, weighing 7lbs, and has been named David after her granfather Dave, who is a beach warden in Brean.

Dave added: “It’s amazing to think that as a member of Marina Sydenham Carnival Club she’d walked all the carnival routes last month without any problems!”

Amy said this week: “I was totally surprised, but I’m really happy and everything is just settling down now. I would like to say thank you to all the midwives at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton and to everyone who has donated bundles of baby clothes and equipment.”

She added that father Stu Turner is also “over the moon” with the new arrival.

The news was exclusively broken on Burnham-On-Sea.com’s discussion forums last Monday.
