A tourist attraction in Berrow has this week been given permission by Sedgemooor District Council to advertise itself in the skies above the village.

Animal Farm in Red Road has requested approval to introduce a huge tethered advertising balloon 60m above the site.

After considering the proposals, the district council has approved the unusual request on the condition that the balloon is not used for more than 35 days in any year. Furthermore, the council has asked that the balloon does “not impair the visual amenity” of the local area.

The park hopes the balloon, which will be visible from the centre of Brean, will help attract more visitors during the tourist season.
