Exclusive: Boy, 10, shot in face with airgun at Highbridge’s Apex Park

-

A ten year-old boy was shot in the face with an airgun at Highbridge’s Apex Park at the weekend, police confirmed on Monday.

Police told Burnham-On-Sea.com the youngster suffered injuries to his mouth after being shot by a teenager on Saturday evening (May 22nd) near the Mallard Place entrance to the park.

Two small groups of youths had been involved in an ‘altercation’ at the park at 5.10pm which ended with the BB gun shooting incident.

Inspector Roger Tolley told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The children were involved in a row when a 13 year-old boy with a BB gun shot the ten year-old, who suffered an injury to his mouth.”

“Investigations are continuing but, fortunately, the boy didn’t suffer very serious injuries. It had the potential to be far more serious.”

He added that police officers are due to speak to the 13 year-old about the incident on Tuesday.
