£10,000 cost of removing Burnham’s beach paddling pool revealed

-

The cost to the tax payer of removing Burnham-On-Sea’s beach paddling pool will be almost £10,000, it was revealed by Sedgemoor District Council on Thursday (January 28th).

We reported in December that the council had made the decision to remove the crumbling pool – mainly due to health and safety concerns.

Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Works to dismantle Burnham-on Sea-Boating Pool will start in mid-February, dependant on weather and favourable tidal conditions.”

“Members of the Braithwaite family, who built the pool in thanks for the safe return of five sons from the Great War, have been contacted. They have been asked if they would like to suggest any wording for a commemorative plaque.”

“The work is costing in the region of £9,800 and will last for approximately one week.”
