BBC TV crew turns Berrow beach into a film set for a day

-

This unusual vehicle was the centrepiece of a BBC TV children’s programme being filmed on Berrow beach on Monday (October 11th).

The beach and dunes were closed to the public to allow scenes for a new drama series called Sparticles to be filmed for kids channel CBBC.

The programme follows a group of children surviving alone in the world after all the adults have disappeared due to a scientific experiment going wrong.

“As the world is meant to be deserted in the show, the film crew wanted to have the beach as clear of people as possible,” Sedgemoor District Council’s Tim Mander, who oversees Berrow beach, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Sparticles is a 13-week series due for transmission on CBBC from January 2011.
