Berrow
villagers celebrate £15,000 boost for play area project
Delighted
residents in Berrow are celebrating again this week after securing
£15,000 of funding from environmental firm Viridor towards
the village's new play area project.
The
parish council announced on Wednesday (February 24th) that Viridor
is to provide the funding through its Landfill Communities Fund.
The
news comes after a £50,000 lottery windfall last
November when the project was selected in The Peoples
Millions, a TV competition run by The Big Lottery Fund and ITV.
Berrow
Parish Council clerk Lynn Smith told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Wednesday:
"This is wonderful news and will enable us to finalise and
undertake the project over the course of the next few months."
"A
planning application has recently been submitted to Sedgemoor
District Council with regard to the Buccaneer Tower."
"Planning
approval is required for this, as the Buccaneer Tower is a large
climbing frame reaching some 18 feet high! We are all really excited
about the project and hope that it will be completed in time for
the summer holidays."
Berrow
Parish Council intends to display the plans for the play area
soon and notices will be put up around the village advising where
and when this will happen.
